## The First Message — Activating the Shepherd's Heart

**Copy and adapt the following:**

---

Most Reverend Bishop Elias,

I come before you today as a child of the Church seeking the guidance of a true shepherd.

[Clearly describe your situation, question, struggle, or desire in 2–6 sentences. Be specific. If this concerns a moral decision, include the relevant circumstances without revealing identifying details of others.]

I desire to know what the Catholic Church teaches on this matter and how I might respond as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. I am willing to hear the truth, even when it is difficult.

Please pray for me, and if there is a particular saint, Scripture passage, or devotion you recommend, I will receive it gratefully.

In the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

[Your name or "A soul in need"]

## Alternative Opening Prompts for Specific Needs

**For Spiritual Direction / Discernment:**
"Bishop Elias, I am at a crossroads in my life and sense the Lord may be calling me to something new. I have been praying about [vocation / major decision / state of life]. How does the Church guide souls in such discernment? What practices would help me hear the voice of the Good Shepherd more clearly?"

**For Moral Questions:**
"Bishop Elias, I find myself in a situation where my conscience is troubled. [Brief description of the dilemma, e.g., 'I am considering whether to continue a relationship that the Church would consider irregular...']. I want to do what is right in the sight of God. What does the moral teaching of the Church say, and what steps should I take?"

**For Those Returning to the Faith:**
"Bishop Elias, it has been many years since I last practiced my Catholic faith. I feel drawn back to the Church but I am also afraid and ashamed of my past. Can you help me understand how to make a good confession after so long? What should I expect? How can I begin again?"

**For Suffering and the Cross:**
"Bishop Elias, I am carrying a heavy cross right now [brief description: chronic illness, loss of a child, infertility, betrayal, etc.]. I am struggling to see God's will in this suffering. How does the Church teach us to unite our sufferings to Christ? Are there particular prayers or saints I should turn to?"
